## What is the Bitcoin Testnet4 Faucet?

The current public Bitcoin testnet

Bitcoin Testnet4 is the current generation of the public Bitcoin testnet, introduced in 2024 after Testnet3 became too inflated (a single test BTC was selling for tens of dollars on side markets, defeating the purpose of a free test environment).

Testnet4 uses the same Bitcoin Core software, the same SegWit and Taproot soft forks, and the same PSBT and BIP-39 standards as mainnet — but with worthless test BTC and a more disciplined difficulty schedule.

Our faucet drips small amounts of Testnet4 BTC directly to your address. Use it to test wallet recovery flows, signing pipelines, Lightning channel openings and any Bitcoin-aware infrastructure before touching real BTC.

## How to claim Testnet4 BTC

From sign-in to first drip in under a minute

1. Sign in to your Crypto Chief dashboard.
2. Open Faucet → **Bitcoin Testnet4**.
3. Paste a Testnet4 address — Legacy (m/n…), P2SH (2…), SegWit (tb1q…) or Taproot (tb1p…) all work.
4. Submit your claim.
5. Wait for the next Testnet4 block (\~10 minutes on average) for the transaction to confirm.

## Examples of Use

What developers build with free Testnet4 tokens

#### Wallet integrations

Validate HD wallets, BIP-39 seeds, BIP-32 derivation and recovery flows without risking real BTC.

#### PSBT & multi-sig

Test PSBT signing pipelines, multi-sig coordinators, hardware wallet flows and policy descriptors.

#### Lightning Network

Open Lightning channels on Testnet4, test channel rebalancing and route through realistic topologies.

#### Custody pipelines

Build and validate cold-storage policies, withdrawal limits and key ceremony procedures.

#### Payment processors

Smoke-test deposit detection, confirmations counting and refund logic on a live Bitcoin network.

#### Bitcoin Core integration

Run integration tests against a real Bitcoin Core node connected to Testnet4.

## Got questions?
we are here to help

## Why Testnet4 and not Testnet3?

Testnet3 suffered from runaway difficulty resets and an oversupply of mined coins, which made it unrealistic. Testnet4 launched in 2024 with stricter rules and is now the default public Bitcoin testnet.

## Why is my transaction taking so long to confirm?

Bitcoin Testnet4 targets \~10-minute blocks, just like mainnet. During off-peak mining periods a confirmation can take longer. The transaction is broadcast immediately — it just needs miners to include it.

## What address formats does the faucet support?

All Testnet4 prefixes: Legacy (m/n…), P2SH (2…), Native SegWit (tb1q…) and Taproot (tb1p…).

## Why no USDT on this network?

Bitcoin Testnet4 doesn't host USDT — Tether on Bitcoin lives on Omni Layer, Liquid or Lightning. For test USDT we recommend the Ethereum Sepolia, Tron Nile or TON Testnet faucets.

## Can I use Testnet4 with Bitcoin Core, Electrum or Sparrow?

Yes — point your wallet at a Testnet4-enabled Bitcoin Core node (or use our RPC endpoint) and the wallet will display Testnet4 balances.
