## What is the XRPL Testnet Faucet?

Native XRP and issued currencies for XRP Ledger

The XRP Ledger Testnet is the official sandbox for the XRP Ledger (XRPL) — a decade-old open-source ledger optimised for payments, native AMMs and tokenised assets. It runs the same consensus protocol and amendment process as mainnet.

Our faucet drips native testnet XRP (used for reserves, transaction fees and AMM operations) and a USDT issued currency from a faucet-controlled issuer account. Both behave like normal XRPL assets and work with every standard library (xrpl.js, xrpl-py, xrpl4j).

Use it to test payment flows, AMM pools, escrow conditions, payment channels and the new XRPL features as they roll out via the amendment process.

## How to claim Testnet XRP & USDT

From sign-in to first drip in under a minute

1. Sign in to your Crypto Chief dashboard.
2. Open Faucet → **XRP Ledger Testnet**.
3. Paste your XRPL account address (starts with r).
4. Choose XRP or the USDT issued currency.
5. Submit. The drip lands in a single XRPL ledger (\~4 seconds).

## Examples of Use

What developers build with free XRPL Testnet tokens

#### Payment apps

Validate fast, cheap, deterministic payments — the original XRPL use case — without spending real XRP.

#### XLS-30 AMM pools

Test the native AMM amendment with realistic XRP + IOU pairs before deploying to mainnet liquidity.

#### Escrows & payment channels

Build conditional payments, micro-payment channels and time-locked escrows using native XRPL primitives.

#### Issued currencies

Test stablecoin issuance, trust lines, freeze flags and ripple paths with the faucet-issued USDT.

#### Cross-currency bridges

Validate Bridge objects and cross-chain operations enabled by the XLS-38 amendment.

#### Compliance flows

Combine with Crypto Chief AML Intelligence to model risk scoring on XRPL transactions.

## Got questions?
we are here to help

## Why does my new XRPL account need a reserve?

The XRP Ledger requires a base reserve (currently 10 XRP) plus an owner reserve per object (trust lines, offers). Our faucet sends 1000 testnet XRP, which is far more than enough to activate any test account.

## Do I need a trust line for the test USDT?

Yes — XRPL issued currencies require the recipient to set up a trust line to the issuer. The faucet automatically sets a trust line on first claim and then sends the USDT.

## Is this network the same as XRPL Devnet?

No. XRPL has three public networks: Mainnet, Testnet and Devnet. Testnet is the most stable and recommended for application development; Devnet is used for upcoming amendments and may be less reliable.

## Can I use this faucet to test XRPL Hooks or EVM sidechain?

Hooks and the EVM sidechain run on separate networks. This faucet covers the canonical XRPL Testnet only.

## Which libraries work with XRPL Testnet?

Every major XRPL SDK — xrpl.js, xrpl-py, xrpl4j and xrpl.rb — supports Testnet out of the box by switching the node URL.
